Hannah was lovely enough to make any man forget the past--any man except Buck Hogan. For thought she had more than fulfilled the promise of beauty in the 14-year-old girl he'd once known, Buck would always remember that back then he had been her father's whipping boy. Helpless no longer, he would have his revenge by taking the old man's ranch. The only thing he hadn't counted on was falling in love with Hannah.

Buck The Cowboys edition by Leigh Greenwood Romance eBooks

I have to first say the "Cowboys" is one of the best series I have ever read. Leigh Greenwood is a master of the craft. At one time I had the whole series in paperback. Regret immensely that I got rid of them. Now that I have my Android tablet, and being that this was a free offering from Amazon Kindle, I couldn't pass up the chance to get this book again. I will probably be getting the whole set back again.

BUCK is one of the series. The great thing about this set is that Greenwood does a phenomenal job of allowing the reader to enjoy the series, whether out of order, in order or just one.

I won't post the plot highlights, you can read the other reviews for that. What I will say is that this book is wonderful read. All the great things you look for: romance, suspense, trials, redemption, happy endings. Historical romance, especially cowboys, pioneers, anything in the later 1800's, is always going to catch my interest. Buck has is all. The anger of the way he was treated as a young boy, the good family that helps him grow in to manhood, finding the love that he thought he couldn't feel any more.

If you read only one or the whole series, just read it. You won't be sorry.

I would also recommend Greenwood's other series "Seven Brides" each bride is named for a flower.

Buck The Cowboys edition by Leigh Greenwood Romance eBooks Reviews

The book was a fun read and Leigh Greenwood knows how to write captivating action scenes and and riveting insight into the characters. His books never disappoint.
What a great book! I read this book twice and enjoyed it both times. Will definitely be checking out other books by this author.
My dad loved this book. I purchased it with others as a gift for him to read as he loved the stories and era that they were all written in. He recently passed away, but before he passed, he often told me how excited he was about these stories and the gift I had given him. Thank you Leigh Greenwood for making my father's last days memorable to him and to me.
A typical storyline for a historical western, but done well. Romance progressed believably, side characters were interesting, dramatic plot was paced so it remained in the background but evolved realistically to its conclusion.
This is the first book I've read by this author, so I didn't really know what to expect. I found that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'll have to ask you to forgive my rather sexist expectations when I express my shock upon learning that the author is a man! In my previous experience, the "romances" I've tried that were written by men were more pornographic than romantic. "Buck", however, was a story that was truly about the plot, the characters and the relationships between them, with some love scenes included for the right mix of heat and romance. No matter the gender of the author, I found this story to be well written and engaging. As a few other reviewers have mentioned, I would have liked to see the personalities of the main characters be even a bit further developed than they were, but I will definitely be exploring other works by Mr. Greenwood.
Oh wow! I really enjoyed this book and had a very hard time putting it down. This was the first book I have ever read by this author, Leigh Greenwood, and wow he deserves so applause. When I first started reading this book, I did not have much hope for this being a good romance book. Most of the other romance books I have read have been written by women, but this author was exceptional! A little about the book, Buck was sold as a child to become a slave for a very mean man. Hannah was that man's daughter and Buck hated her. Now that the man who beat him and made him a slave was dead and Buck was all grown up, he intended to own the farm he was forced to work, by any means he saw fit. Hannah hated her father and was glad he was dead, but she planned on making a living by running her ranch and wouldn't take any man's offer of marriage to make it easier for her. She definately wasn't too keen on giving Buck half of the ranch for his help, but if she didn't she would lose the ranch to the bank and she just couldn't do that.
As I read each of the books in "The Cowboys" series I proclaim it to be "the best". In this story Buck and Zeke his adopted brother go back to the ranch where they had been enslaved and brutally brutally beaten. Buck and Zeke are filled with hate and are there because Buck plans to take the ranch away from Hannah and her mother. They had seen a bank advertisement for someone to work it to pay off the debt her father left behind so they would not lose it. Buck didn't count on Hannah being stubborn and strong nor did he realize how attracted he was to her. Buck, Zeke, Hannah and her mother encounter all kinds of difficulties, cattle having been rustled, two men wanting to marry Hannah and the rest you will have to red yourself. I have loved these stories so much that I have read them twice and in the months to come will probably read them again.
